Events and Activities:Copper Mountain hosts special holiday events throughout Christmas week. From ski races to fireworks, there's always something happening beyond just skiing.

The tubing hill is located in Center Village with easy access. Sessions are timed, so reserve spots in advance during busy Christmas week.

Kids love tubing. Parents love that it's safe, supervised, and exhausting for kids who need to burn energy.

Book lessons months in advance. Christmas week lessons fill up early. If you wait until December, availability will be limited.

  • Watching people and soaking up the atmosphere

It's especially magical at night when the village is lit up and snow is falling.

Day Trip to Breckenridge Main Street

Breckenridge is 20 minutes from Copper Mountain. Main Street during Christmas is spectacular.

Why Visit Breck During Christmas:

Decorations:Main Street is decked out with lights, wreaths, and holiday displays. Every shop and restaurant participates. It's one of the most festive streets in Colorado.

Shopping:Boutiques, gear shops, art galleries, and souvenir stores line Main Street. Great for Christmas shopping or browsing.

Dining:Dozens of restaurants offer everything from casual to upscale. More options than Copper Mountain if you want variety.

Historic Atmosphere:Breckenridge's mining town history creates charm and character. The Victorian buildings and Main Street layout feel authentically Colorado.

Plan for Parking:Parking in Breck during Christmas week is challenging. Arrive early or use paid lots. Walk Main Street and enjoy the atmosphere without rushing.

Make it an afternoon trip. Ski Copper in the morning, drive to Breck after lunch, spend a few hours on Main Street, grab dinner, and head back to Copper.

Activities Beyond Skiing

Ice Skating:Copper Mountain sometimes offers ice skating in Center Village during holidays. Check current offerings when you arrive.

Sledding:Find open areas near your rental for free sledding. Kids love it and it's a fun break from organized activities.

Hot Tub Time:Most rentals include hot tub access. After skiing, soak in the hot tub and let your muscles recover. It's one of the best parts of a ski vacation.

Games and Movies:Bring board games, cards, and download movies before you arrive. Cozy evenings in your rental are part of the experience.

Woodward Copper:Indoor action sports facility with trampolines, foam pits, and skateparks. Open year-round and perfect for kids who need a break from skiing.

Decorations (Optional):Some families bring small decorations or a tabletop tree to make their rental feel festive. Not required, but it adds to the holiday spirit. Many of our rentals (Lark Mountain) are decorated already for the holiday.

Crowds and Planning

Christmas week is the busiest time of year at Copper Mountain. Plan accordingly:

Book Everything Early:Rentals, ski lessons, restaurant reservations, and activities book months in advance. Don't wait until November.

Expect Lift Lines:Christmas week brings crowds. Lift lines are longest mid-morning. Ski early or late to avoid waits.

Parking Fills Up:If you're driving to the resort daily, arrive early. Parking lots fill by 9 a.m. on busy days.

Grocery Shop Before Arriving:Stock up on groceries before you get to Copper Mountain. Summit County stores get picked over during Christmas week.

Be Patient:Crowds, lines, and chaos are part of Christmas week. Embrace it. Everyone is on vacation trying to enjoy the holidays.

Why Families Return Year After Year

Christmas at Copper Mountain creates traditions. Families book the same week every year. Kids grow up skiing here. They bring friends. Eventually, they bring their own families.

The vacation home becomes the gathering place. Grandparents, parents, kids, and extended family all meet at Copper for Christmas.

Those traditions are priceless. The memories last forever. That's why families invest in Copper Mountain real estate and return year after year.

Alternatives if Christmas Week Doesn't Work

If Christmas week is too crowded or expensive, consider:

Week Before Christmas (December 17-23):Good snow, fewer crowds, lower prices. You miss Christmas Day but still get holiday atmosphere.

Week After Christmas (December 26-31):Includes New Year's Eve. Slightly less crowded than Christmas week. Prices drop after January 2.

Early January (January 2-15):Snow is excellent, crowds disappear, prices plummet. No holiday atmosphere, but great skiing.
